I just learned that Consumer Reports reviewed my product Scout, which is a hidden camera detector.
They liked it!

I’m honestly not sure if I can post about it or mention it in marketing since it’s behind a paywall.
It’s incredibly cool to know that people out there like something I made.
But I have pretty mixed feelings about the whole journey, since creating it was completely outside my comfort zone.
There were several major challenges:
- The production costs were way too high
- I had zero experience making electronics
- Distribution turned into a real headache
- I got burned by a contractor
- The pandemic destroyed the market for years
The product itself is pretty modest when I think about it.
It’s just a simple consumer device for travelers – not a fitness tracker, not a software service, not even clothing. Very niche market.
To be honest, selling surveillance equipment was never my dream.
But you know what? I learned a ton from the experience, made money on it, and people like it. And that counts for something.
